Gateway Pet Guardians is now hiring for Volunteer & Shelter Program Manager for our new facility in East St. Louis! In this position, you will be filling a leadership role focusing on increasing the volunteer base at Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG). You will be a dynamic business partner, sharing oversight for the volunteer program and assisting with shelter operations. As a member of the management team, you will work collaboratively on strategies to recruit, retain and integrate volunteers and improve the efficiency of our shelter operations.
While you won’t get financially rich in this position, you will have the opportunity to enrich your own life by making a difference in the lives of people and pets in our service area. You will have direct impact on making the organization bigger and better as we begin to operate out of our new facility in East St. Louis that will include a low cost veterinary clinic, retail area, pet spa and adoption center. Schedule
Most weeks- work Friday-Tuesday, off Wednesdays & Thursdays but there will be some flexibility
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Human Resources, Non-Profit Organization Management or related field
- 3+ years experience in human resources, volunteer management, people management or related.
- Experience working or volunteering in animal welfare or in veterinary care is preferred
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to positively influence others to achieve results
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic, team environment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Google Docs/Sheets/Drive/Calendars), and technological proficiency
- Passion for animals, animal welfare and the No Kill mission.
- Will require some nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Driver’s license
