Recent reports have surfaced regarding molded and outdated food at the Gateway Market, located at 2511 State Street, East St. Louis, Illinois. As Mayor of the City of East St. Louis, please be assured, that we are taking every possible action to address the citizens' concerns.
The safety and health of our citizens are priority. We are in close communications with the East Side Health District whose jurisdiction is to handle food safety issues. When the Health District makes a finding with reference to the safety of food at the Gateway Market, we will immediately take appropriate action(s) regarding the Market's permit.
