EAST ST. LOUIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY
The East Louis Police Department will host a Citizens’ Police Academy class on May 5, 2014 –June 30, 2014. All classes will be held on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located on the 2nd Floor of the East St. Louis Municipal Building, except on Memorial Day.
The Academy will give citizens in our community the opportunity to learn about law enforcement through practical training and exercises. The goal of the academy is to promote understanding between the residents and its police officers regarding their respective needs and problems. By promoting this relationship citizens and police can work together to make the entire community a safer place to live.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age
- Must reside in the city of East Saint Louis
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must not have been convicted of a crime other than minor traffic offenses
