Alvin Parks, Jr. is a native of the East St. Louis community. He is a product of East St. Louis School District 189, having graduated as Class President and Valedictorian from East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School in 1979.
Alvin has furthered his education by attending and graduating from both Morehouse College and Washington University with Bachelor of Science and Master's of Business Administration degrees, respectively. He has also participated in several other continuing education situations, always looking to build his capacity.
Alvin's primary career experience includes twenty (20) very successful years of marketing and selling ideas and products for companies as well as public entities, including Procter & Gamble and the State of Illinois. He has also diligently served as the Assistant Business Manager for East St. Louis School District 189.
Alvin has been a mighty public service contributor for many years. His experience includes service as both an East 51. Louis City Councilman and City Manager; service to many civic causes, including the NAACP, Urban League, East-West Gateway Coordinating Council, Comprehensive Mental Health Board, Martin Luther King Commemorative Committee, Jackie Robinson Khoury League, and more. He also gives of himself to his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, and its causes, having served in several capacities, including Polemarch.
Alvin's church home is the Greater St. Luke A.M.E. Church in East St. Louis, where he serves as President Pro-Tern of the Trustee Board and as a member of the Stewardship & Finance Committee and the Men's Chorus.
Alvin is married to the former Jo Anne Hamilton and has two daughters. Annalise and Nariah.
